The movie The Exorcist was based on a real case that happened in 1937, in St. Louis, MI, to a 13 years old Catholic boy who had playing with an ouija (not sure of correct spelling) Board. He had played with the board for 4 months before the possession began. A priest was called to conduct an exorcism. The exorcism took four months and the priest lost nearly 50 pounds in his nightly confrontation with evil. It had reached an impasses and the priest had come to belief that no exorcism would be obtained. During this session, when the boy was yelling all manner of physical insults and cursing, a new voice came through the boy. In a loud firm note this voice stated, "I am the arch angel Michael and I command you to leave now." And it was over. But they sure didn't show that in the movie. Possession exists because people invite the creatures into their lives and the problem is that we do not always know what the many forms of invitation involve. There is a form of invitation that asks if it can enter your home -- if you don't know it don't let it in. But there are many levels of human/demonic interaction ranging from mild temptation to building rage into a person.
